Recently, the project "Research, Development and Application of Synergistic Heating and Cooling Technology Using Industrial Waste Heat and Geothermal Energy", jointly applied by Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd. and Sinoma (Beijing) Geothermal Energy Technology Ltd., has been officially approved by the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Bureau for the 2026 Tianjin Science and Technology Service Industry R&D Special Project.

This approved project represents a key scientific and technological initiative by Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd. and Sinoma (Beijing) Geothermal Energy Technology Ltd. to actively respond to the national "dual carbon" strategy and to practice the green and low‑carbon development philosophy of China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. Focusing on industrial enterprises with high waste‑heat emissions in tropical regions, the project innovatively couples low‑grade waste heat generated during industrial production with shallow geothermal energy. Through a high‑efficiency heat pump system, it achieves cascaded energy conversion, with a cooling Coefficient of Performance (COP) far exceeding that of conventional split air‑conditioning, thereby offering a brand‑new technological pathway for green energy saving in industrial scenarios worldwide.

Technological Highlight: Pioneering “Waste Heat + Geothermal” Synergistic Mode

The core innovation of the project lies in the development of a synergistic mode featuring “alternating priority between waste heat and geothermal energy with dynamic energy supplementation”. This breaks the limitations of traditional single‑source cooling. The system preferentially uses waste heat to drive cooling when the waste‑heat quality is stable; when the quality becomes insufficient or interrupted, it automatically switches to the geothermal‑driven mode, ensuring continuous and stable operation of the cooling system.

Global Vision, Serving Green Transformation of Tropical Industries

Currently, the industrial sector accounts for over 35% of global carbon emissions. In tropical regions such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, where high temperatures persist year‑round, the energy consumption for industrial building cooling typically accounts for 30%‑50% of total plant energy use, and in some energy‑intensive industries it even exceeds 60%. Conventional air‑conditioning systems rely on electricity, not only incurring high annual cooling costs but also discharging substantial waste heat into the environment through outdoor units, exacerbating the local heat island effect.

The independently developed “waste heat + geothermal” coupling technology from Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd. utilises recovered industrial waste heat and geothermal energy as primary energy sources. It not only absorbs industrial waste heat to avoid resource wastage, but also meets industrial building cooling demands with significantly lower energy consumption – perfectly aligning with the energy‑structure characteristics of tropical regions.

Industry‑Academia‑Research Collaboration, Backed by a Strong Team

This project is carried out through close collaboration between Sinoma Energy Conservation Ltd., Sinoma (Beijing) Geothermal Energy Technology Ltd., and several domestic research institutes, universities, and enterprises.

The project team brings together technical professionals from Sinoma Energy Conservation Central Research Institute, Sinoma EC Engineering Branch, Sinoma (Beijing) Geothermal Energy Technology Ltd., and other units, covering multiple fields including waste‑heat power generation, geothermal energy utilisation, engineering design, and energy management systems. The team possesses integrated service capabilities ranging from R&D and design, project construction, to operation and maintenance, ensuring long‑term and stable energy savings.
